A long story that begins in the AD 543
Occupying a majestic position overlooking Trasimeno Lake, it was chosen in 543 by Arrigo as the base to attack Perugia, the capital city of Umbria
Castel Rigone, among the most originals medieval hamlets of Umbria.
It still keeps the charm of the medieval times. Being originally a castle, you can still admire most of it: its high stone walls to defend the hamlet, its majestic doors to enter the center, the traditional Church, the towers, the narrow roads, the old buildings and the stairs that connects the various parts of it.
A strategic hill top position in the past that has become a special feature now
Its hill top position on top of the so called “Monterone” hill, overlooks Trasimeno lake, creating spectacular moments thanks to spectacular sunsets; just turn your head on the left to admire the valley towards Perugia. Being nestled in the hills, it’s surrounded by green and woods, with great walks, views and sounds of nature. It is also a destination for bird watching activities, as well as horse riding, trekking and cycling.
